It is that time, folks! Our award for the best Corvette of the 1950s is… drumroll please… the 1957! In a decade full of firsts, the 1957 Corvette manages to stand out among its peers. Starting under the hood, Chevrolet bored out the 265 cube V8 from the ’56 model and the resulting engine is still legendary today; the 283 which, for the first time in Corvette history, was able to produce one horsepower per cubic inch in top-spec, fuel-injected, form.

We caught this “We’re Hiring!” advertisement from GM for the Bowling Green Assembly Plant who are adding temporary full-time production workers as the 2020 Corvette Stingray prepares to start retail production in February 2020.

MotorWeek is a show we all grew up with as one of the original “automotive television magazines” produced for automotive fans. So it’s a bit exciting to see the latest iteration of America’s Favorite Sportscar reviewed by the host and show founder John Davis.
While MotorWeek did a test drive the car, most of the footage shown is from General Motors.

CorvetteBlogger contributor Jeremy Welborn was in Bowling Green today and he was over at the Corvette Assembly Plant to check out the latest happenings over there with new construction in the news as well as a mystery Corvette that is now covered up out behind the plant.
If there is one car in the history of Corvettes that I have done a complete 180-degree turnaround on, it’s the 1988 Corvette 35th Anniversary special edition model. My conversion on this car started a few years back before I wrote my book on Corvette Special Editions. But since its publication last year, I have even a greater appreciation for the often looked-over Anniversary Edition.
The ink from Motor Trend’s announcement that the 2020 Stingray would be just the third Corvette in history to take home their coveted Golden Calipers as “Car of the Year” has barely dried but it is time for Chevrolet to break out the champagne and ski goggles for the second time this week because the all-new mid-engine Corvette’s greatness has struck again!
Coming in at number two on our list of best Corvettes of the ’50s is the other bookend to our third-place 1953 Corvette – the 1959 model.
As you might expect, when looking at vehicles produced in decades unburdened by oppressive EPA regulations or pesky oil crises, the last version should be expected to be the finest, most refined example of the breed.

That partly-disassembled C8 Corvette that was spotted parked behind the Corvette Assembly Plant has been covered up as a new video shows.
YouTuber Gresham Veazey was with our friend Byron of Drive 615 when they spotted what we all thought was a wrecked C8 Convertible prototype in camouflage behind the plant.
It was back in September that we learned the new 2020 Corvette Stingray was one of the semi-finalists for the North American Car of the Year Award and today the Corvette has been named as one of the top three finalists for the award.
The Chevrolet Corvette was previously named the North American Car of the Year following the reveal of the new 2014 Corvette Stingray in January 2013.

That’s the name given to this 2020 Corvette Stingray Convertible in Rapid Blue by reporter Lesley Marin who saw the car today at the L.A. Auto Show while filming this news package for CBS Los Angeles.
“I’ve already named her, I think Veronica is the perfect name for that sleek interior…she’s a beauty,” said Lesley as she opened her video.
