What’s the world coming to? Based on its huge weight advantage and only giving up 57 horsepower, […]

Chevrolet To Shine At Upcoming Detroit International Auto Show

Untitled 1Look for Chevrolet to score big global news coverage when more than 5,000 domestic and international media converge on Detroit Jan. 12-13 for the 27th North American International Auto Show.

These media-only days before the event opens to the public Jan. 17-24 are already packed with more than 40 officially scheduled breaking-news conferences designed to showcase the industry’s latest hot vehicles.

Chevy kicks off the show’s first two days of global reveals and intense non-stop media coverage at a 7:35 a.m. presentation by brand executives on Jan. 12 with the full unveiling of the 2016 Volt and 2016 Camaro, among other treats.

Chevy teased the media twice with this next generation Volt, first during the Los Angeles Auto Show in November and then again on Sunday (Jan. 4) at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. But only the front-end styling of this extended range Volt was partially displayed at both events. Chevy – finally – will fully reveal the 2016 electric car at next week’s massive show in Detroit.

“The new Volt will have a more efficient drivetrain that will deliver a longer driving range on battery power, quicker acceleration and a quieter ride when the gasoline engine is running,” reports GM CEO Mary Barra.

The new engine is bigger and more powerful than the current Volt and is quieter than the smaller engine. It also runs on regular gasoline instead of premium that was required for the earlier models. The Volt’s exterior design, interior and other features also are transformed for 2016.

We’ve heard rumors of a second Volt being unveiled since GM applied for a trademark on the name Crossvolt. GM is hush for now on whether a Crossvolt will make an appearance in Detroit, but there’s always a surprise or two at each auto show.

Also newsworthy will be the sixth-generation Camaro since it’s completely re-engineered and redesigned for 2016. GM product boss Mark Reuss says the new model will be much lighter to help improve the driving experience, performance and fuel economy. Stay tuned!

[VIDEO] Jay Leno Reviews the 2015 Corvette Z06 Convertible

Amazing. That seems Jay Leno’s favorite word to describe how he feels about the 2015 Corvette Z06 as the popular comedian, retired Tonight Show host, and car fanatic gets to see, touch, and drive a pre-production model of the Chevy supercar in this episode of Jay Leno’s Garage. “Man, this thing is fast!” he says […]
