[ACCIDENT] C3 Corvette Gets Clipped By Drunk Driver in Arizona
A white C3 Corvette still proudly wears its Corvette tag on the front of the vehicle.
But unfortunately for the owner, the rest of the sports car’s front end is now a pretty ugly mess after a pickup truck crashed into it in Tempe, Arizona early Monday morning.
The driver of the pickup left the scene on foot but was quickly apprehended and arrested by the Tempe Police Department.
Here, you can see a set of nine photos from the accident, showing the gruesome damage, including a wheel that appears to be dangling sideways, to what appears to have formerly been a nice classic Corvette.
You’ll also see photos of the pickup driver, Jose Arturo Soria-Gonzales, 38, who was charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an injury collision.
The two passengers in the Corvette suffered minor injuries in the accident, which happened just after midnight at the intersection of University Drive and Evergreen Road.

[VIDEO] 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Z51 vs 2013 Tesla Model S P85
Here is another featured race from the StreetCarDrags.com event at Palm Beach International Raceway this past weekend. We’ve got a 2013 Tesla Model S P85 running heads up against the brand new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Z51 with the 6 speed automatic transmission.
While the cars are pretty even for the first 1/8 mile with both trapping 90 MPH, the Corvette starts to pull away on the back half of the track, it all comes down to the launch and reaction time to determine who wins.

[PICS] The 2014 NCRS Winter Regional Corvette Show in Kissimmee
One of my all time favorite annual Corvette events is the NCRS Winter Regional in Kissimmee, Florida. While I love doing the stories and coverage of the new C7 Corvette Stingray and Z06, there’s just something about walking through a field literately strewn with used Corvette parts and accessories for every generation but the C7.
The NCRS Winter Regional brings down a whole contingent of Northern Corvette enthusiasts to Kissimmee as its a nice break to the winter weather back home. The weather in Kissimmee was a bit chilly in the opening days but by Saturday the Florida sunshine warmed up the place and more than a few were dressed in t-shirts and shorts.
Every year, the NCRS show gives us a chance to catch up with some friends. Participating as vendors where our friends from the National Corvette Museum, the NCM Insurance Agency as well as parts and accessories from Corvette America and Corvette Central. We also met up with our friend Frank H. who was in town from Germany (he was shopping for an early C3) and renowned restorer Kevin Mackay who gave us some timely advice on an 1967 L89 at Mecum (run away!).
Although not sponsors of CorvetteBlogger, we still would like to say hi to our friends Greg Wyatt from Vintage Corvettes and Dan from Van Steel. Greg always brings down three to five of the nicest Corvettes he has to sell. And as for a little CorvetteBlogger trivia, it was Dan’s father Art Dorsett at Van Steel who painted my 1966 Corvette a little over ten years ago.
As far as the show goes, a few of our contacts said they thought foot traffic was a little lighter this year. That could be from the unseasonably cold weather earlier in the week, as well as Corvette enthusiasts splitting their time between the car show and Mecum’s 10 Day auction extravaganza with 500 Corvettes for sale happening just down the street.
Chevrolet was at the show with Bowling Green Assembly’s Josh Holder showing off the new 2014 Corvette Stingray. We saw more customer-owned Stingrays in the Corvette-only parking lot than at any previous event. There must have been at least 10 Stingrays at the show.
Here’s our photo gallery from the 2014 NCRS Winter Regional:
For us, the show was perfect. A great day to peruse Corvettes and parts as well as catch up with friends. It was great talking with everyone we knew or met for the first time and we are already looking forward to next year’s show.

[VIDEO] New 2014 Corvette Stingray Commercial: Machine
If you watched the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, you would have seen this new :60 second commercial from Chevrolet for the 2014 Corvette Stingray. Called “Machine”, the Stingray is shown racing around a track with a helmeted driver.
While the Corvette is seen zooming around the track, a voice-over reads the following:
You need a machine
A machine that lives and breathes
Something you don’t start
Something you awaken
Unleash
And then believe in
Define the line
To thread the needle
Something engineered to repond in an instant
To adapt and react
You need a machine so sharp
If you had to make a snap decision right now
Between heartbeats
It would deliver
Meet your machine.
Here’s the commercial:
I would say this isn’t the best Corvette commercial I’ve seen and it’s missing the all important tag line celebrating the car as the “2014 North American Car of the Year”.
The real question is, will we see this or another commercial for the Corvette during the Super Bowl? We asked that question at NAIAS to John Fitzpatrick, Marketing Manager for Chevrolet Performance Cars and he only told us it was something they were looking at. We’ll hit him up again to see if anything has changed.
As a follow up question, I also asked Fitz if a Corvette would be given to the MVP and he only stated that it’s possible, but only if Chevy can get some TV time from it. If you remember last year, CBS sold the postgame to another car company and the network went out of their way to not show the new Stingray on the field when it was presented to Raven’s QB Joe Flacco.
GM announced that GMC will be part of the Super Bowl Experience in NYC and two GMCs were given away to the Pro Bowl MVPs on Offense and Defense this year. But so far there hasn’t been an announcement regarding the Super Bowl MVP award.
