Join Kerbeck for the 10th Annual Toys for Tots Corvette Cruise

Alright Corvette folks, it’s time to do some good for the neighborhood. The 10th annual Toys for Tots Corvette Cruise hosted by Kerbeck Corvette is back and is scheduled for Saturday, October 12, 2013. Last year’s toy drive brought in thousands of new toys for good girls and boys and hundreds of Corvette owners enjoyed a great outing. Will you be there this year?

The fun starts with hundreds of Corvettes converging on the Atlantic City Expressway at the Farley Plaza. Under the watchful supervision of the NJ State Police and the Atlantic City Police Department, the parade of Vettes will head out at 12 noon for a 19 mile cruise down the expressway to Exit 2 where they will be directed to the Sandcastle Baseball Stadium.

At the stadium will be the US Marine Corps Reserve League who will pick up the toys. If you would like to attend, please bring at least one new unwrapped toy. If the toy requires batteries, please attach to the outside of the box.

Kerbeck will hosting an appreciation lunch with live entertainment for all the Corvette owners who attend. Also joining in the fun will be Corvette’s Product Manager Harlan Charles and Corvette Assembly’s Quality Manager Steve Grili. The Corvette Team will be showing off the new C7 Corvette Stingray and will participate in a question and answer session.

Also on hand will be the Corvette Racing display and as well as a display from Genuine Corvette Accessories.

All participants will receive a commemorative dash plaque as well as the knowledge that they helped brighten Christmas morning for a little boy or girl.

Several Atlantic City Casinos will be offering special room rates for the weekend. Showboat and Bally’s are offering a Friday night room rate of $79 while Saturday night’s room rate is $179.

If you’re interested in attending, please click here to register. Please feel free to call Dave Salvatore at 609-344-2100 with any questions.

[VIDEO] Motor Trend’s Epic Comparison of the Corvette Stingray, Porsche 911 Carrera 4S and the Ferrari F12

[VIDEO] Motor Trend Epic Comparison of the Corvette Stingray, Porsche 911 Carrera 4S and the Ferrari F12

Motor Trend wasn’t able to get a couple of the newest supercars – the 2014 Corvette Stingray Z51 and the Ferrari F12 – for its annual Best Driver’s Car contest earlier this year, when the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S took the title again for the second straight year.

Fortunately, the magazine was finally able to procure samples of the Stingray and the F12 Berlinetta and put the two masterpieces through the paces against the 911 in a mini-sampling of three of the world’s best cars.

Since there was such a wide gap in the prices, said Motor Trend, “we decided the only fair way to approach this comparison test would be to apply a version of our Best Driver’s Car rules. Metrics like value and design get flung out the proverbial window in favor of how great the car is to drive on the highway, a back-country twisty road, and, of course, our home away from home, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

We’ll go ahead and tell you that they judged the Porsche to be tops again, but don’t think the Corvette wasn’t able to make the 911 sweat it out.

“For the first time in my professional career, I can honestly say that a new Corvette is a complete package,” Motor Trend’s Jonny Lieberman concluded. “There’s nothing anywhere to betray America’s favorite sports car. Stuff like crap seats, crappier interior, and an indismissible feeling of cheapness have been banished to the dustbin of automotive history. The new Corvette absolutely rocks.”

In fact, Lieberman says that at Laguna Seca, he found the Stingray “nearly as planted as the 911. That said, I believe the 991 iteration of the 911 has the best suspension damping in the history of the production car.”

We all know that Chevy’s engineers aimed at making the C7 better than the 911. Their efforts paid off, according to Lieberman. “The RWD Corvette puts its power down to the ground as well as the AWD 911 does,” he wrote. “Big props to the guys who perfected that trick sport differential – it’s close to magic.”

Looking at the stats, it’s hard to believe that the Stingray is even being compared to the Porsche and Ferrari, considering that the former sticks for $151,260 and the latter for a whopping $434,144.

“If we were to compare the C7 with the 911 in a contest where money mattered, it would be hard to ignore the fact that the Porsche costs twice what the Chevy does,”

Lieberman admits. “Really, really hard.”

[PIC] Throwback Thursday: 1963 Corvette Sting Ray Burnout

It’s time for Throwback Thursday where we feature vintage photos of Corvettes. Today’s selection is an Ermine White 1963 Corvette Sting Ray Sport Coupe burning a little rubber.

Some would say that the C2 model which featured both a Coupe and Convertible body style was the best design ever for the Corvette. It’s hard not to agree, but we just think they should be driven like this guy was doing. Burning a little rubber. And when we say little rubber, check out those skinny bias ply tires that were put on Sting Ray back in the day!

The picture was taken in April 1965 according to the full-size photo while the Hawaiian license plate proclaims the Corvette as belonging to someone in the Aloha State.

Do you have any vintage Corvette pictures to share? Let us know!

GM Files Patent for 7 Speed, Dual Clutch Transmission

GM Files Patent for 7 Speed, Dual Clutch Transmission

We knew the C7 Corvette’s A6 automatic transmission was going to be phased out at some point and speculation has been rampant that a new, 8 speed transmission would replace it. After all, GM has been talking about the upcoming 8-speed for a while now. However, it now seems that the Vette’s next automatic might just be a clutch-less manual.

At this point it’s anyone’s guess whether this transmission will find a home in a special super-stingray (Z07 or ZR1) in order to compete with more upmarket cars (and command a larger premium over a “regular” Vette). But our guess is that it will completely replace the Corvette’s slushbox across the entire range– coupe, convertible, Z07, etc. This scenario would see GM’s trucks receiving the well-publicized 8-speed auto and the Corvette (and perhaps performance-oriented Cadillacs) getting the DCT.

Is this what you’ve been waiting for? What do you think about the Corvette having a DCT?
