GM announed that they were planning to reduce production to align with market demand, meaning that many assembly plants will be ideled in the coming weeks so that inventory can catch up with demand. We’ve just learned that the Bowling Green Assembly Plant, home to the Corvette, will be one of the most severly impacted plants that GM has.
The plant will be down 9 weeks. The downtime weeks are as follows: 5/4, 5/11, 6/1, 6/8, 6/29, 7/6, 7/13, 8/3, 8/10. These new operating plans have also revised the buildout and startup schedules for the 2009 and 2010 Corvettes.
The new revised buildout for the last 2009 Corvettes will be July 28th, 2009. The new revised startup for the 2010 Corvettes will be July 29th, 2009.
