Serrated/Helix Design: The Serrated/Helix combination design creates intake turbulence in the combustion chamber. This turbulence breaks up the fuel which creates a more complete combustion cycle increasing horsepower, torque and improving throttle response. The Serrated/Helix combination design also reduces intake whistle that occurs with Helix only designs. 6061-T6 Billet Aluminum Construction: All Silver Bullet Throttle Body Spacers are constructed from 6061-T6 billet aluminum precision machined for light weight, high strength and perfect fit and finish. Longer Intake Tract: Adding a Silver Bullet Throttle Body spacer lengthens the intake tract which helps increasing intake air speed increasing performance and improved throttle response. Installation Is A Snap: This Silver Bullet throttle body spacer uses all factory mounting locations providing stability and a hassle-free installation.
WE WOULDN'T DO IT IF IT DIDN'T MAKE POWER Test results on aFe’s Dynojet dyno showed power gains across the power band, topping out at +17 HP and +15 lb-ft torque at 6,000 rpm. Testing was conducted on a 2020 Mustang 5.0 comparing stock and the aFe Power BTB (all tests conducted using 91-octane fuel). No other modifications to the vehicle were made, so imagine the potential when you add in other performance enhancing products such as a cold air intake, tuner and cat-back exhaust! By the way, for you truck enthusiasts, this product also fits the F-Series (see application table for exact vehicle fitment).
HOW DID WE DO IT? Not only did we increase the bore diameter from the stock 80 mm to 85 mm, we redesigned the throttle body from the ground up, aerodynamically improving the air flow path. Why 85 mm and not larger? 3 reasons: 1) At 85 mm, no custom tuning is required so this works right out of the box; 2) The 85 mm diameter provides a direct path into the 84 mm intake manifold opening, a larger diameter would require modification to the stock manifold, or use of an aftermarket one; and 3) The mounting diameter for your intake tube is only slightly increased, but it allows you to retain the stock intake tube or you can upgrade to a cold air intake without having any special adapters.
WHAT'S IT MADE OF? Not wanting to be like the rest, aFe chose to make the BTB out of billet 6061-T6 aluminum, precision machined and capped off with a black anodized finish for that stealthy custom look. As a finishing touch, we have laser etched the aFe Power logo and throttle body size right on the top. The throttle plate is made of brass, the significance here is to eliminate the chance of galling against the aluminum body. Each throttle body is serialized for authenticity
NOT JUST MORE AIR, BETTER AIR! Not only does our design out flow the OE by 17% at WOT (measured at 4” H2O restriction), the air flow at 90% of throttle blade opening is also dramatically improved, offering much smoother power delivery during spirited driving in the upper RPM range. This is achieved through careful engineering, billet construction and precision machining, allowing for smoother transitions, a thin leading edge and an aerodynamically improved design. The result of all this is more fully formed air passing through the throttle body into the intake manifold. Think of the wings of an airplane and how effortlessly the air passes around them.
THE HEART OF THE BODY To address any performance concerns such as rough idling or check engine lights (CEL’s), aFe chose to use OEM electronics and gearing mechanism to ensure proper function and connectivity. Again, the 85mm throttle body does not require any custom tuning: it works well right out of the box.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT WORKS RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX? This is one of the simpler bolt on upgrades you can do to your car or truck. Simply loosen or remove the air intake tube and there are only 4 bolts and one electrical connector to remove. Install the BTB with the supplied hardware, re-attach your intake tube and that’s about it.
