C4 Corvette Crashes Into Albuquerque Bread Shop
The old “I hit the accelerator instead of the brake” trick resulted in an unusual sight in Albuquerque on Monday: the rear end of a Corvette sticking out the front window.
Seems a senior citizen in her white C4 Corvette pulled that stunt as she was driving into the parking lot of the Great Harvest Bread Company on Montgomery Boulevard and Juan Tabo Boulevard N.E. in the El Dorado Square Shopping Center.
Well, at least the shopping center has a General Motors name.
Fortunately, the driver wasn’t hurt, and neither were five employees inside the store. Unfortunately, one customer was injured, though he is expected to be OK.
“I was trying to park slowly,” the driver explained to KOB Eyewitness News 4. “I must have been pushing the gas pedal instead of the brake. I don’t know, all of a sudden I see my car getting in the store.”
No word on whether the store already had a drive-through window, but obviously it does now!
The Corvette driver won’t be cited by police because the accident happened on private property.
The store was slated to reopen the next day, probably with temporary repairs, but we don’t know the extent of the damage to the Corvette.

[VIDEO] Corvette Racing ‘Flat Out’ – 2012 12 Hours of Sebring
Corvette Racing fans were spoiled over the last few years with the “Track to Street” series that gave enthusiasts an upclose and personal look at the people and the cars over the course of the last two ALMS and Le Mans seasons. With three races having already been run in 2012, and no “Track to Street” videos, thinking was that the series was no more.
Well here is some good news. Pratt & Miller posted this new video called Corvette Racing ‘Flat Out’ on their Facebook page and is documents the season opener at the 12 Hours of Sebring.
This video is very good and captures the orchestrated chaos that occurs during a 12 hour race. Let’s hope they keep coming throughout the season!
Sebring was the launch point for what has been a very strong start to the 2012 ALMS season. So far, Corvette Racing has earned podium finishes in each of the three races including wins at Long Beach and Monterey.
Now the team is in France for the 24 Hours of Le Mans and has a chance to defend their 2011 win.
The 80th running of the Le Mans 24 Hours will begin with technical scrutineering on Sunday and Monday, June 10-11, followed by practice and qualifying on Wednesday, June 13, and Thursday, June 14. The race will start Saturday at 3 p.m. local time (9 a.m. ET). SPEED and SPEED.com will provide continuous coverage starting at 8:30 a.m. ET on June 16.

Weekly Corvette Ordering Constraints

427 Convertible 60th Anniversary Hood Logo
As always, CorvetteBlog is first to get you the complete list of current constrained items when ordering Corvettes from Chevrolet.
2013 Corvettes ordered this week will be built during the week of August 6th (no later than August 9).
There are no constraints on the ZR1. However, there are still two constrained parts/items on non-ZR1s:
Q6B: 20 Spoke Chrome Aluminum Wheels: There is a material restriction from the manufacturer of this wheel, a matter they still expect to see resolved within 4 weeks.
Z30: 60th Anniversary Stripe Package on Convertibles: There continues to be a delay in the production of 60th Anniversary Corvette Convertibles with the Z30 Stripe Package. Officially, this is a material restriction, which they still expect to be resolved within 4 weeks. Personally, I expect the restriction to be lifted in a week. We’ll see.
If you’re looking to custom order any of the seven Corvette models: Coupe or Convertible, Grand Sport Coupe or Convertible, 427 Convertible, Z06, or ZR1, please look no further than right here at CorvetteBlog.com. Hot Rod Power Tour Stops at Mid America Motorworks
The 18th annual Hot Rod Power Tour is well underway this week and yesterday, the traveling performance car show stopped at Mid America Motorworks Effingham, IL campus for a hot lunch and a one-of-a-kind car show.
Some 3,000 hot rods, including over 130 Corvettes, were making their way from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign to the Gateway International Raceway on what was the 4th day of the 7 day tour that started in Detroit and ends in Arlington, Texas.
America’s Sports Car is a regular on the Hot Rod Power Tour, mixed in among Street Rods, Vintage Hot Rods, Muscle Cars, Kit Cars, Exotics and more. Mid America provided the Corvettes with special parking and so it was easy to see just how many were participating in the tour.
“It’s a no-brainer that enthusiasts are driving their Corvettes on Hot Rod Power Tour,” said Mid America Motorworks founder and Chief Cheerleader, Mike Yager. “Late-model Corvettes are fast, attractive and comfortable. That’s exactly what you want on a 1,700 mile drive!”
Participants took home souvenirs from their visit to Mid America Motorworks, including unique Hot Rod Power Tour bumper stickers, t-shirts and other hobby-related items. This is Mid America Motorworks’ second time welcoming the tour, which voted the aftermarket Corvette supplier as the favorite lunch stop in 2010.
Here are some photos of the Corvettes and participants at Mid America Motorworks:
You can be sure everyone had a good time as Mike Yager and his staff know how to entertain car enthusiasts. Check out more of the 18th Annual Hot Rod Power Tour at hotrod.com.
